Old Fashioned Soft Pumpkin Cookies

With Halloween, November and Thanksgiving right around the corner, I am in a baking mood! It's in full effect and the ingredient is respectfully, PUMPKIN!
I tried out the Old Fashioned Soft Pumpkin Cookies that Tiffany over at posted recently. I always look forward to her Friday recipes :)
The cookies are great just by themselves.. but the glaze adds just enough of a sweet kick. I brought them to work, and they were gone by lunch time!!
Prep: 10 mins Cooking: 18 mins
Cooling: 15 mins Yields: 36 cookies
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
1 cup LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Glaze (see below)

PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease baking sheets (I used butter).
COMBINE flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in medium bowl. Beat sugar and butter in large mixer bowl until well blended. Beat in pumpkin, egg and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto prepared baking sheets.
BAKE for 15 to 18 minutes or until edges are firm. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Drizzle Glaze over cookies.
COMBINE 2 cups sifted powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons milk, 1 tablespoon melted butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract in small bowl until smooth.
PS. Stay tuned for Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing!

Spooky, Spooky

With Halloween upon us in the weekend ahead, I am eager to watch a scary movie!  I haven't watched a classic scary movie (Psycho, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street) in years.... and I am not dressing up this year so might as well scare myself silly.  I don't do haunted houses any more after the chainsaw on my back experience at Blood Mansion several years back.  I am a firm believer that the monsters shouldn't touch you!
Here's to a spooky Halloween!

Christian Louboutin Barbie

Christian Louboutin Speaks Barbie
I know this is old news and it was only a matter of time...but would this not be the best Christmas present ever, for a fashionista??
She comes with 4, count 'em, 4 pairs of Louboutins that come with their own bag and box!

Kinda makes me want to look through catalogs and write out a christmas list again! :)

I'm Dreaming of... Anthropologie

I have always loved Anthropologie but they do fall off my radar from time to time as I don't have one nearby. Being a slightly cooler, rainy day today, I found these lovely items I would love to have. I'll take one of each please in no particular order.

Ready for colder weather

I have a bad feeling that this year will be much like last year where it does not get cooler, even the least little bit (all I am asking for here is to wear a jacket!) until November!  Although we did have snow in Southeast Georgia last year, still.... I would rather have cooler weather for longer... I think... the snow was nice, it had been about 10 years.
Seeing these Michael Kors ads in the November issues, definitely makes me want to put on a real coat and have a cup of Starbucks at hand! :)

Pretty Things

Often, when I am having a bad day, I can blog surf and it puts me at ease, calms me down to take a look at all the pretty things. Here are some of the pretty things I have come across today. There is not really a theme, just photos :)

Olivia Palermo

I have grown to absolutely love Olivia Palermo's style. She always manages to look polished and sophisticated. I would love to raid her closet. Her photos speak for themselves.

Love the shoes!

Chelsea Handler!

So, I am beyond excited that I get to see Chelsea Handler this weekend LIVE and in full effect. I have been a fan of her and Chuy from the beginning.

Her laughter is contagious, she puts it all out there, and uses crude humor-my kinda girl! :) Not to mention she was listed at #33 on Forbes Most Powerful Women of 2010!
Chunk (who even has his own Twitter!):
I have also read all three of her books:
While my favorite was, "Are you there Vodka, it's me Chelsea" they were all pretty funny!

Her collection of short stories about everything from her dog Chunk to feeding a lady Wendy's chicken nuggets through a van window. And the stories involving her Dad!? Oh my goodness... hilarious! I want to meet him-she has made him a star as well!
She also has a column in Cosmopolitan Magazine, which I read religiously every month.

Heather McDonald will be opening for her-who is pretty funny herself.
My only set back is that I will not be able to get my book signed by Chelsea :( Some publisher's rule that you have to purchase the book at the bookstore she is signing in. Maybe this is the norm, and I understand, but stupid.. publisher's... and their rules.... Sadness!!

I came across a post about a man made fashion island off the coast of Dubai.  It is appropriately to be named "Isla Moda" and the infamous Karl Lagerfeld is to help design it.  Of course, if anyone can create a dream island within the same imaginative realm of Chanel, it is Mr. Lagerfeld!  "Isla Moda" is to have 3 hotels and 150 residences, all boasting architechture that only seems possible in a land of dreams.

This, like most of the creations in Dubai has a very futuristic appeal.
A gold plated shopping experience
Being surrounded by water, might as well keep the underwater theme going
There are a couple other man made islands off the coast of Dubai (which I am not sure if all construction has been 100% completed) but it is amazing to look at the photos from an aerial view!  I actually saw this first one, the Palm Islands from the plane flying into Dubai.
The next photo, the World Islands, resemble, well the globe-man made or not, very cool in my opinion!
I have actually been fortunate enough to have traveled to Dubai (a couple times) and it truly is the NYC of the Middle East.
I came across the following photo's I received from a friend I met while there.  The first one was taken of the main strip in Dubai in the early 1980's and the second photo was taken in 2005.  You could call it the city on steroids with the vast amount of growth within this 20 years.
